Our archive of newsreels is easy to use. When doing research, you can choose between a “Classified Search” and a “Complete Search”. A “Classified Search” enables you to make a selection from a series of given options, whilst a “Complete Search” allows you to enter any search words that can be linked with “AND” or “OR”.

A full text search has extended functions with which you can search for specific word combinations. To do this, you must put the words you are looking for in inverted commas, e.g. "17 June".

The search results are each shown with a key picture, the title of the respective item, and the length of the item. By making a new Complete Search, you can further reduce the search results found.

In addition, we provide the following functions for each item found:

If you are a registered user of our archive, you can choose the bandwidth you want for viewing the item. The different bandwidths available are 56k/s and 250k/s. As our guest, you will be shown items in 56k/s quality. Microsoft Windows Media Player is required for watching video sequences. If this programme is not installed on your PC, you can download it here:

This function is important if you want detailed information about the item.

If you have selected any of these three functions, a separate window will appear where more functions are available. As a registered user, you have the following possibilities:

Add to Clip List
Add to Clip List
Using this function, you can add the selected item to your own clip list. The clip list is like a kind of shopping basket where you can handle the items before asking us about a license or excerpt. In the clip list you also have an opportunity to add a commentary to each item. Once we have received your query, you clip list will be deleted.

You can have your clip list shown here so that you can handle the clips it contains. Your clip list is stored until you send us a query.

If you are registered with our archive as a guest, you will not have a clip list. You can still ask us about licenses or excerpts, but you must do so for each title individually.

Our pages are optimised for Microsoft Internet Explorer (Version 5 upwards) and for Netscape Navigator (Version 6 upwards).
